My first visit to Byron

When I first arrived in Australia, I would have never imaged to live “down under” one day. Having grown up around Munich, Bavaria, my life was pretty “limited” as a young boy. Just after the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000, my father had brought back a didgeridoo and two boomerangs from his trip to Australia. About 15 years later, I would first arrive in Melbourne and head to beautiful Byron Bay to spend New Years on one of the most pristine beaches I have ever seen…

Now, another 10 years later, I would call myself a local in the Northern Rivers Region. Life has led me here, and I am pretty grateful for this. I am not exactly living in Byron Bay nowadays but pretty close to it. Often times, I would swim in the coean on Sundays, walking up to Wategos, then swim to the Surf and Life Saving Club (SLSC) on the main beach.

Cycling from Byron to Sydney

Last May, I went on a longer bike ride from Ocean Shores to Forster, not quite Sydney yet, but heading South. I was amazed by the beauty of the Northern Rivers Region and I was able to spend a night in Grafton. Google Maps had lead me some other way, and I made several detours, occasionally ending up in one of the Natural Parks like to one around Yamba (Yuraygir National Park).

I also went on other cycling and hiking adventures in the area and will feature some of the most beautiful spots on this blog here. Stay tuned and feel free to reach out!
